All Youth Leadership Foundation (YLF) programs are founded on Four Pillars of Success: Challenging Academics, Character Formation, Personal Mentoring and Parental Involvement.  The goal of each of these pillars, through YLF’s well- rounded academic and character programs, is to teach our students the basic human and Christian virtues that will guide them on a stable moral path.

Challenging Academics
At YLF we believe that each person has a vocation to work.  For our students, their vocation is to be the best student that they can possibly be.  In an effort to help them live this vocation to the best of their ability we offer challenging classes in core academic subjects that will prepare them for their upcoming academic year.  As students review past material and are introduced to new material they begin to gain confidence in their ability to succeed, and this translates to a higher level of performance and better future grades.

Northridge Prep provides an excellent college preparatory education that allows each student to reach his academic, spiritual, moral and social potential.  Guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirit of Opus Dei, Northridge aims to develop spiritually mature men who are selfless family members, productive professionals, responsible citizens, and contributors to the common good.In 1976 a group of dedicated parents came together to embark upon a most noble and audacious endeavor – that of starting a school.  Integral to this vision was an environment that would not only challenge their sons academically, but would also provide for them the necessary tools, experiences, and role models to become men of faith, men of character, and men of virtue.  These men and women wanted a school that would combine academic excellence, personal attention to each student, and sound moral formation with a very close working relationship between parents and faculty.  As fathers and mothers, they realized how important the years between 11 and 18 are for a boy. The education he receives, the friends he makes, and the outlook he acquires from people he respects all work together to provide the ideals and values which must guide him for the rest of his life.  Helping a boy to form these ideals, and then grow into them, is what Northridge Prep is all about.

In 1989 a small group of parents and educators founded a school specifically for the purpose of educating the whole person. The founders dreamed of a school that would recognize parents as the first and most important educators in their children’s lives. They envisioned a school that would accept its responsibility to educate both the intellect and the will of each student—giving equal priority to the pursuit of academic excellence and the development of character. The dream that became a reality born of these convictions is Hawthorn School for Girls.

Each day, every member of the Hawthorn community strives to live the school’s mission statement: to assist parents in the integral education of their daughters to become free and responsible women who know and love the truth.
