 Clube Darca

O Clube Darca (fundado em 1973 e com personalidade jurídica desde 1987) é uma associação juvenil de utilidade pública e os seus objectivos são, de acordo com os estatutos, a melhoria do rendimento no estudo, a ocupação dos tempos livres desenvolvendo gostos e aptidões, a ampliação do círculo de amizades e a promoção do sentido de solidariedade social ­ enfim, a formação integral, em complemento da acção da Família e da Escola ­ entre aqueles que directa ou indirectamente participam nas actividades que realiza: estudantes a partir do 1º ano do 2º ciclo do Ensino Básico.

About Westpark
Where is Westpark?
We’re based at 1, Leopold Road, London, W5, opposite Ealing Common and very close to Ealing Common tube station. For more details, see our Contact Us page.

Who can become a member?
Westpark is open to boys between the ages of 10 and 18 of all races, religions and backgrounds.

What is our aim?
To support the work of parents in the human, spiritual and cultural development of their sons, based on Christian principles.

What sort of activities do we run?
The Club offers the opportunity to try out and take up new activities and to make new friends. There is always plenty going on with a good mixture of sports, excursions, camps and weekends away in the country. At the same time, club members are encouraged to take up one of a variety of activities to pursue on a regular basis. Westpark has excellent library and study facilities which are always available for doing school work and, in this respect, help in most fields can be arranged. Thus, there is opportunity both to make good use of spare time and to acquire good study habits.

Activities of a spiritual or doctrinal nature are entrusted to Opus Dei, a personal Prelature of the Catholic Church.

How can parents get involved?
Parents are encouraged to take an active interest in what the club has to offer, and they are always welcome to come and talk to the leaders. Family events are also organised on an occasional basis.

To provide a varied activity-based programme of informal education that will foster and develop skills, talents and values in both members and youth workers, enabling them to become young women achievers of the future.

Tamezin fosters a family atmosphere within the Club to help girls and young women develop their self-confidence as well as acquire an attitude of respect, understanding and service towards the others. This positive peer culture is created through real friendship between the members themselves, with their youth leaders and among the youth leaders and parents.

OBJECTIVES

To provide regular core weekend activity programme for:

juniors (9 - 11): cultural, creative (including graphic and performing arts) and sportive activities
intermediates (12 - 13 years) creative (graphic and performing arts), team sports and social outreach activities
seniors (14 - 18 years) seminars on topical issues and personal development, study-based activities, sports and social outreach activities
young women aged 18 years and above: an international club and international social outreach
To ensure that individual attention is given to each person through personal tutorials in order to help each one manage more effectively the transition from youth to adulthood.
To support the academic development of girls by providing a weekly homework club (Years 5 - 11) as well as monthly study weekends and study weeks for GCSE and A-level work.
To enable its members to have a greater understanding of important life issues and career opportunities.
To organise adventure residential activities aimed at developing social skills and physical capacities.
To promote the talents of singing and song writing among young girls through an annual song festival that also fosters links with European youth clubs.
To facilitate the production of a termly teenage lifestyle magazine by the young people themselves.
To encourage the involvement of parents in the running of the club by maintaining a Parents' Committee.
To bring together families of various club members through various termly activities for the whole family.
To make these services available to other youth groups and schools in order to complement and or support their own programmes.

¿Quién soy y por qué hago esta web?

pilar opus dei jovenes

Me llamo Pilar González, hace unos meses hice una web llamada Opus Dei colegios. Como recibí muchos mensajes de felicitación por esa página, ahora me lanzo con esta.

De pequeña fui a uno de los mal llamados "Clubes del Opus Dei".

Me ha parecido interesante hacer esta página por dos razones:

1. Para aclarar algunas confusiones que encuentro frecuentemente en el trato con amigos y colegas: No existen “clubes del Opus Dei”. Así de sencillo ¿Es fácil de entender? Sí, si se entiende bien qué es el Opus Dei

2. Porque no encuentro ninguna página en Internet donde sea relativamente fácil informarse de clubes y asociaciones juveniles cuya atención espiritual está encomendada a la Prelatura del Opus Dei. Me imagino que esto es así, porque no forman ninguna agrupación, ni tienen todos el mismo ideario (partiendo de lo básico, pues lógicamente todos procuran ofrecer una buena formación cristiana, que es lo que precisamente se encomienda al Opus Dei).
